YOUR AREOLA AFTERCARE

Congratulations on your gorgeous new Tattoo!

Areola Tattoo Aftercare

Gentle care now means beautiful, lasting results.

Day 0–2: Protective Dressing (Tegaderm®)

  • Your areola tattoo will be covered with Tegaderm immediately after your procedure.

  • Keep the dressing in place for 2–3 days as directed — it protects the area from bacteria and allows the skin to begin healing.

  • If the Tegaderm starts to peel or fill with excess fluid before the 2-day mark, contact the clinic for advice on replacing it.

Day 2–3: Removing the Tegaderm

  • Wash your hands thoroughly before touching the area.

  • Remove the Tegaderm slowly and gently, ideally while under lukewarm running water to loosen the adhesive.

  • Do not rip or pull quickly — take your time to avoid damaging the healing skin.

Day 3–14: Cleansing & Moisturising

  • Cleanse the area twice daily using the Green Soap Cleanser from your kit.

    • Apply a small amount to clean fingertips, gently cleanse the tattoo, then rinse with cool to lukewarm water.

    • Pat dry with a clean tissue or cotton pad — do not rub.

  • Moisturise with a very thin layer of AfterInked® Aftercare Lotion after cleansing. Too much can soften scabs before they’re ready to fall away naturally.

  • Wear a soft, clean cotton bra or clothing to avoid friction.

  • Do not pick, scratch, or rub at the area — flaking and light scabbing are normal.

Blooming Phase (Weeks 2–4)

  • Once flaking is gone, you may notice the pigment looks lighter or like it’s disappeared — this is the blooming phase.

  • The colour will gradually return over the next 2–4 weeks as new translucent skin naturally sheds.

What to Avoid Until Fully Healed

  • No swimming, saunas, or hot tubs.

  • No heavy sweating or intense exercise.

  • No tanning or direct sun exposure on the area.

  • No perfumes, deodorants, or harsh skincare products near the tattoo.

Long-Term Care

  • Always use SPF 30+ on the area after healing to help prevent fading.

  • Schedule your touch-up appointment as recommended to perfect the colour and shape.

Inside Your Aftercare Kit

Your kit has been carefully put together with everything you need to keep your areola tattoo protected, clean, and healing beautifully:

  • Tegaderm® Protective Film – A medical-grade, breathable dressing applied immediately after your treatment. It acts as a barrier against bacteria while allowing the skin to heal underneath. Keep it on for the first 2–3 days as directed.

  • Green Soap Cleanser – A gentle, professional-grade cleanser made from natural oils and plant-based ingredients. It’s widely used in the tattoo industry to safely remove impurities without irritating the skin or disturbing pigment.

  • AfterInked® Aftercare Lotion – A premium, vegan-friendly healing lotion that hydrates, soothes, and supports healthy skin recovery while helping to lock in your pigment.

  • Cotton Pads – Soft, absorbent pads for gentle cleansing and blotting without pulling on healing skin.

  • Cotton Tips – For precise application of aftercare lotion and for cleaning small areas without disturbing the healing site.

First of all — thank you for trusting True Skin Clinic with your treatment.
Whether you’ve just had brows, lips, eyeliner, or SMP done, the way you care for your skin in the next few days will make all the difference to your results.

We’ve put everything you need right here, so you can follow along step-by-step.

General Rules

Do not pick, scratch, or rub the treated area — let any flaking or scabs shed naturally.

  1. Keep the area dry for at least 7 days — avoid soaking, swimming, saunas, and steam.

  2. Avoid sweating (gym, hot yoga, intense workouts) for one week — sweat contains salt, which can fade pigment.

  3. No makeup or skincare products on the treated area until healed.

  4. Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 4 weeks — UV fades pigment quickly.

  5. If lymph fluid appears, gently dab it away with a clean tissue — do not rub.
